Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) are beneficial soil microbes that convert insoluble phosphates into plant-available forms through organic acid production. Formulated at 5 × 10⁷ CFU/g, they enhance phosphorus uptake, reduce fertilizer dependency, and boost crop yields.
Product Specifications
-
CFU: 5 × 10⁷ per gram (50 million viable cells/g)
-
Active Content: Phosphate solubilizing bacteria
-
Carrier: Dextrose powder (pH 6.0–7.5 for optimal activity)
Usage Instructions
-
Dosage: 1–2 kg/acre mixed with 200 L water or compost.
-
Timing: Apply at sowing/transplanting; reapply at flowering.
-
Primary Action: Solubilizes tricalcium phosphate, rock phosphate, and aluminum phosphates.
-
Method:
-
Soil: Mix with FYM/compost (1 kg/100 kg) and broadcast.
-
Seeds: Treat with 20 g/kg slurry (use 10% jaggery as adhesive).
-
-
Frequency: 2 applications per crop cycle (avoid alkaline soils > pH 8.0).
-
Compatibility: Synergistic with Azotobacter and Rhizobium; avoid chemical P-fertilizers for 15 days.
-
Activation: Requires soil organic matter; suppresses Fusarium via siderophores.
-
Safety: Non-toxic to plants, earthworms, or pollinators.
Suitable Crops
-
Cereals: Wheat, rice, maize (P-hungry during tillering)
-
Legumes: Soybean, chickpea (enhances nodulation)
-
Vegetables: Potato, tomato, cabbage (improves fruit setting)
-
Fruits: Banana, citrus (roots absorb soluble P efficiently)
-
Others: Sugarcane, cotton, oilseeds
Storage Instructions
-
Temperature: 10–25°C (avoid >30°C or freezing).
-
Packaging: Airtight opaque bags with desiccant.
-
Shelf Life: 9–12 months (lignite carrier extends viability).
-
Precautions: Store away from moisture, pesticides, and direct sunlight.
Key Advantage
Dual Nutrient Mobilization:
Solubilizes 30–50 kg P₂O₅/ha/season while producing organic acids (citric/gluconic) that chelate zinc/iron, increasing P-use efficiency by 25–40% (IARI trials).
