Product Name:
Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki Bio-Insecticide
Cfu Cells/Gram:
Minimum 2 x 10⁹^8 (200 Million) viable spores and crystal toxins per gram | High Potency (ITU ≥ 16,000 IU/mg).
Base:
Available in multiple formulations for effective application:
-
Wettable Powder (WP): For foliar spray.
-
Water Dispersible Granule (WDG): For foliar spray with better suspension.
Benefits:
-
Potent Lepidopteran Control: Specifically targets and kills caterpillars (larvae of moths and butterflies) that are major pests of vegetables, fruits, and field crops.
-
Crystal Protein Toxin: Upon ingestion, the Bt toxin disrupts the insect's gut lining, causing rapid cessation of feeding and death within 48-72 hours.
-
Safe for Beneficials: Highly selective; does not harm bees, ladybugs, parasitic wasps, earthworms, or other non-target beneficial insects and organisms.
-
No Pest Resistance: Can be effectively rotated in IPM programs to delay or prevent pesticide resistance.
-
Zero Residue & Safe: Completely biodegradable, leaves no harmful chemical residues, and has a short pre-harvest interval (PHI), making it ideal for organic farming and export-quality produce.
Suggested For Crops:
Effective against caterpillar pests in:
-
Vegetables: Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Tomato, Okra
-
Fruits: Apples, Grapes, Pomegranate, Citrus
-
Field Crops: Cotton (American Bollworm), Corn (Corn Borer), Pulses
-
Forestry & Ornamentals
Spray Dosage:
-
Foliar Spray (Standard): Mix 0.5 - 1.0 gram of WP/WDG powder per liter of water.
-
Dosage per Acre: Use 200 - 500 grams of product per acre in 150-200 liters of water, depending on pest pressure and crop canopy.
-
Application Timing: Spray in the late afternoon or early evening. Thoroughly coat foliage, especially the undersides of leaves where larvae feed.
Soil Application Dosage:
-
Not typically applied to soil. This is a foliar bio-insecticide.
-
Note: For soil-dwelling caterpillars (e.g., cutworms), a drench can be prepared using 2-3 grams per liter and applied to the base of plants.
Note:
-
Critical: Must be ingested by the larval pest to be effective. Good spray coverage is essential.
-
Compatibility: Do not mix with alkaline pesticides or strong fungicides. Can be used with most bio-pesticides.
-
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
-
Best Results: Apply when larvae are young (early instars) for maximum control. Reapply after 7-10 days or after heavy rain.
