KMB for Coconut – Bigger Nuts, Higher Copra Yield, Stronger Palms
Share
Potassium is the unsung hero of coconut nutrition. It drives the transport of sugars and starches from the leaves to the nuts, directly determining nut size and copra content. It also regulates water balance, making palms more drought‑tolerant, and strengthens cell walls, helping the palm resist root (wilt) disease. KMB works by unlocking the vast reservoir of locked potash already present in your soil, making it constantly available to your palms.
How to apply KMB on coconut:
For soil application (to build nut size and copra):
-
For powder: Take 200-250g of Bactostore's KMB powder per adult palm. Mix with 20-25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM.
-
For liquid: Take 200-250 ml of Bactostore's KMB liquid and mix with the same quantity of FYM.
-
Apply the mixture in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the palm, 15‑20 cm from the trunk.
-
Apply pre‑monsoon (April‑May) and again post‑monsoon (September‑October).
For new plantings:
-
Mix 100g of KMB powder (or 100 ml liquid) per pit with 10-15 kg of well‑decomposed FYM before planting the seedling.
Important tips for Alappuzha coconut farmers:
-
Potassium is essential for fighting root (wilt) disease – KMB keeps your palms strong.
-
Do not mix KMB with chemical fungicides or copper‑based products – they will kill the beneficial bacteria.
-
Always apply in the evening or on a cloudy day.
Buy from Bactostore. We deliver fresh KMB – liquid or powder – to all Alappuzha coconut gardens.
