How to Apply NPK Consortia on Cardamom & Pepper – Step‑by‑Step Guide

Many farmers apply NPK consortia incorrectly and then think it doesn't work. Follow these simple steps from Bactostore to get full value.

For cardamom:

Soil application (before monsoon or at start of growing season):

  • Take 1‑2 litres of NPK consortia liquid (or 1‑2 kg powder)

  • Mix with 200‑500 kg well‑decomposed FYM or compost

  • Apply this mixture in the basin of each cardamom clump

  • Lightly cover with soil

  • Repeat every 3‑4 months

Through drip irrigation (regular feeding):

  • Mix 1‑2 litres of NPK consortia liquid in 200 litres of water

  • Apply through drip system or as drench

  • Apply every 20‑30 days during active growth period

For black pepper:

Soil application (pre‑monsoon or at planting time):

  • Mix 1‑2 litres of NPK consortia liquid with 200‑500 kg well‑decomposed FYM

  • Apply in the basin around each pepper vine

  • Lightly cover with soil

  • Repeat every 3‑4 months

Through drip irrigation:

  • Mix 1‑2 litres of NPK consortia liquid in 200 litres of water

  • Apply through drip every 20‑30 days

For new pepper vines (root dip before planting):

  • Mix 10 ml of NPK consortia liquid in 1 litre of water

  • Dip the roots of young pepper cuttings or seedlings in this solution for 10 minutes before planting

  • This gives the vines a strong start with beneficial microbes colonising the root zone from day one

For vegetables (tomato, chilli, cabbage, etc.):

Seed treatment:

  • For 1 kg of seeds, mix 10 ml of NPK consortia liquid in 100 ml of water

  • Soak seeds for 10 minutes, shade dry for 30 minutes, then sow

  • This improves germination and early seedling vigour

Three golden rules from Bactostore:

  1. Always apply in the evening – sunlight kills the beneficial bacteria

  2. Keep the soil moist for 2‑3 days after application to let the bacteria establish

  3. Never mix with chemical fungicides – especially copper‑based products or antibiotics. Use chemical fertilisers first, wait 3‑5 days, then apply NPK consortia. Or apply consortia first, wait 7‑10 days, then apply chemicals.
