Trichoderma for Mango Orchard Soil Management in Goa | Biological Biofungicide & Soil Health Supplier India

Mango is an important perennial fruit crop cultivated across Goa. Because mango trees remain productive for many years, maintaining healthy orchard soil, adequate organic matter, good drainage and a biologically active root zone is an important part of long-term orchard management.

Trichoderma is a group of beneficial fungi widely used in agriculture for biological soil management and as a microbial biofungicide. Species such as Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma asperellum can be incorporated into integrated mango orchard soil-health and root-zone management programs.

Under favorable soil conditions, Trichoderma can establish around organic matter and the rhizosphere. These beneficial fungi compete biologically within the soil environment and can interact antagonistically with certain soil-borne fungal pathogens, making them useful components of preventive biological disease-management programs.

For established mango trees, Trichoderma should generally be applied within the active feeder-root zone rather than concentrated immediately against the trunk. The appropriate application area depends on tree age, canopy spread, root distribution, orchard spacing, soil characteristics and local agronomic practices.

Trichoderma may be incorporated with well-decomposed farmyard manure, compost or suitable organic amendments before placement in the orchard root zone. Adequate moisture and organic matter can help create favorable conditions for beneficial fungal establishment.

Depending on formulation and applicable label recommendations, liquid Trichoderma may be incorporated through suitable root-zone drenching or irrigation applications. Wettable powder, talc-based and water-soluble formulations provide additional options for orchard soil-management programs.

Preventive establishment of beneficial microorganisms is generally preferable to relying on biological products only after severe root deterioration or advanced disease symptoms have developed. Trichoderma can therefore be incorporated periodically into an integrated orchard soil-health program.

Trichoderma should not be considered a replacement for good orchard management. Drainage, sanitation, balanced nutrition, irrigation management, organic matter, pruning and locally appropriate disease-management practices remain important.

Care should also be taken when using chemical fungicides around the same time as Trichoderma. Because Trichoderma itself is a beneficial fungus, some fungicides can reduce its viability. Product compatibility and suitable application intervals should therefore be considered.

A comprehensive microbial mango program can combine Trichoderma for appropriate soil and root-zone management with NPK consortium, Azotobacter, PSB and KMB for integrated nutrient management. Suitable microbial biopesticides may be selected separately for specific insect-management requirements.

Peak Laboratories supplies Trichoderma and other agricultural microbial formulations in liquid, wettable powder and water-soluble forms for mango growers, commercial orchards, agricultural dealers, distributors, institutional buyers and bulk requirements.
