Pseudomonas fluorescens – Complete Biofungicide for Rot Diseases, Wilt & Leaf Spots
Share
Pseudomonas fluorescens is a naturally occurring, beneficial bacterium that acts as a powerful biofungicide and plant growth promoter. It is a fluorescent pseudomonad commonly found in soil and on plant surfaces. Unlike single‑target products, Pseudomonas fluorescens has a broad‑spectrum activity against multiple fungal pathogens, including Phytophthora, Fusarium, Pythium, and Rhizoctonia. It produces antifungal metabolites like pyoluteorin, pyrrolnitrin, and 2,4‑diacetylphloroglucinol (DAPG) that kill disease‑causing fungi. It also secretes siderophores that starve pathogens by binding iron, and volatile compounds like HCN that suppress fungal growth. Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has developed and commercially distributes a specific strain, Pseudomonas fluorescens PN026, as a biocontrol agent against plant diseases. It also promotes root and shoot development, improves nutrient uptake, and can be applied as seed treatment, soil drench, foliar spray, or through drip irrigation. It is 100% organic, leaves zero chemical residues – perfect for Idukki's export‑oriented cardamom and pepper – and is compatible with many insecticides and fertilisers (but NOT with copper‑based fungicides or certain chemicals). Bactostore supplies Pseudomonas fluorescens in both liquid and talc‑based powder forms, delivered directly to farms across Munnar, Thodupuzha, Kattappana, Adimali, Nedumkandam, and all Idukki villages. Prices start at ₹150‑450 per litre for liquid and ₹150‑450 per kg for powder.
