PSB for Rice – The Foundation of a High‑Yielding Paddy Crop

PSB works by converting the locked‑up phosphorus into a form that the rice plant can easily absorb. This leads to an explosion of root growth, which means the plant can access more water and nutrients. The result is a dense, robust root system that supports more tillers, stronger stems resistant to lodging, and a significant increase in grain yield.

How to apply PSB on rice:

For seed treatment (to give your paddy a strong start):

  • For powder: Mix 100g of Bactostore's PSB powder in a solution with enough water to coat 10 kg of seeds. Coat the seeds evenly and shade dry for 30 minutes before sowing.

  • For liquid: Mix 100 ml of Bactostore's PSB liquid with enough water to coat 10 kg of seeds and apply the same way.

For soil application (for field‑wide nutrient unlock):

  • Mix 1‑2 kg of Bactostore's PSB powder (or 1‑2 litres of liquid) with 100‑200 kg well‑decomposed FYM.

  • Broadcast this mixture evenly over the puddled field during the last ploughing and incorporate it into the soil.

  • This is an excellent way to give the entire field a base of available phosphorus.

  • The Kuttanad region’s acidic, waterlogged soils are ideal for PSB, which thrives in these conditions.

  • Do not mix PSB with chemical fungicides – they will kill the beneficial bacteria.

  • For a complete nutrient boost, combine PSB with a nitrogen‑fixing biofertilizer like Azospirillum.
