NPK Consortia for Vegetables & Paddy – Higher Yields, Lower Costs

Kollam’s vegetable farmers grow brinjal, tomato, chilli, okra, beans, and cucurbits. Paddy is also cultivated in low‑lying areas. All these crops need nitrogen for leaf growth, phosphorus for root and flower development, and potassium for fruit quality and disease resistance.

Chemical NPK fertilizers are expensive and often inefficient – up to 50% can be lost through leaching or fixation.

NPK consortia is the natural, cost‑effective solution.

How to apply NPK consortia for vegetables:

Soil application at land preparation:

  • Mix 1‑2 kg of Bactostore’s NPK consortia powder (or 1‑2 litres liquid) with 100‑200 kg well‑decomposed FYM per acre

  • Broadcast evenly during land preparation and incorporate into topsoil

Root dip for seedlings (before transplanting):

  • Mix 10g of powder (or 10 ml liquid) in 1 litre of water

  • Dip seedling roots for 10 minutes before transplanting

Soil drench for established plants (every 2‑3 months):

  • Mix 100‑200g of powder (or 100‑200 ml liquid) in 10 litres of water

  • Drench around the root zone of plants in a 100 sq. m. bed

How to apply NPK consortia for paddy:

Seed treatment (most effective):

  • Take 100g of Bactostore’s NPK consortia powder (or 100 ml liquid)

  • Mix with enough water to coat 10 kg of paddy seeds

  • Stir evenly, shade dry for 30 minutes, then sow

Soil application (for field‑wide nutrition):

  • Mix 1‑2 kg of powder or 1‑2 litres of liquid with 100‑200 kg FYM per acre

  • Broadcast during the last ploughing and incorporate into soil

Results: Healthier plants, more tillers (paddy), more flowers and fruits (vegetables), higher yields, and 30‑40% reduction in chemical NPK costs.
