Trichoderma for Tomato Wilt & Root Rot Management in Himachal Pradesh | Biological Biofungicide Supplier India
ಹಂಚಿ
Tomato is an important commercial vegetable crop grown in Solan and other vegetable-producing regions of Himachal Pradesh. Healthy root development is essential for crop establishment, nutrient uptake, water absorption and sustained plant growth.
Wilt, root rot and other soil-associated diseases can become important constraints in intensive tomato cultivation. Several different organisms and environmental conditions can produce similar symptoms, so correct diagnosis is essential before selecting a management program.
Trichoderma spp. are beneficial fungi widely used as microbial biofungicides and root-zone microorganisms in integrated soil-borne disease-management programs.
Species such as Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma asperellum can be incorporated into tomato production systems to support beneficial biological activity within the rhizosphere.
After suitable application, Trichoderma can colonize the root-zone environment and compete with certain soil-associated fungi for nutrients and colonization sites. Selected strains can also produce biologically active enzymes and metabolites and participate in mycoparasitic interactions with susceptible fungi.
These mechanisms make Trichoderma useful as one component of an Integrated Disease Management (IDM) program where susceptible soil-borne fungal pathogens contribute to tomato wilt or root-rot problems.
Depending on diagnosis, organisms associated with tomato root and soil-borne disease complexes can include fungi such as Fusarium spp. and Rhizoctonia spp., as well as oomycetes and other pathogens. Trichoderma should not be assumed to provide equivalent activity against every organism or every wilt condition.
For nursery and transplanted tomato production, early establishment of beneficial microorganisms around the root zone can be an important part of biological soil management.
Depending on the registered formulation and label instructions, Trichoderma may be incorporated through nursery media, planting or transplant-zone treatment, soil application, compost or farmyard-manure enrichment, root-zone drenching or compatible irrigation systems.
Suitable powder formulations may be incorporated with well-decomposed compost or farmyard manure and applied around the active root zone. Compatible liquid formulations may be used through root-zone drenching or suitable irrigation systems where permitted by the product label.
For polyhouse and protected tomato cultivation, microbial programs should be coordinated carefully with fertigation, sanitation and crop-protection schedules. Concentrated fertilizers, disinfectants or fungicides should not automatically be mixed with live microbial products unless compatibility has been established.
Trichoderma should therefore be used as part of a diagnosis-based integrated program, rather than as a universal treatment for all tomato wilt symptoms.
Broader biological disease-management programs may also include beneficial bacteria such as Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis where appropriate.
Nutrient-supporting microorganisms such as NPK microbial consortium, Azotobacter, PSB, KMB and ZSB can be incorporated separately for soil-fertility and nutrient-management objectives.
A comprehensive tomato root-health program should combine microbial inputs with healthy seedlings, nursery sanitation, crop rotation where practical, balanced nutrition, organic matter management, appropriate irrigation, good drainage, removal of severely affected plant material where advised and correct disease diagnosis.
Peak Laboratories manufactures and supplies Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and other microbial agricultural formulations in suitable liquid and powder forms.
Products are available for tomato growers, commercial vegetable farms, polyhouse growers, farmer groups, FPOs, agricultural dealers, distributors and bulk buyers throughout Himachal Pradesh and India.
