Trichoderma for Kiwi Root Disease Management in Himachal Pradesh | Biological Biofungicide Supplier India

Kiwi is an increasingly important high-value fruit crop cultivated in suitable temperate and mid-hill regions of Himachal Pradesh. Healthy roots are particularly important in kiwi because productive vines require suitable soil moisture, good aeration, balanced nutrition and an active rhizosphere.

Poor drainage, prolonged waterlogging, root injury and certain soil-borne fungal or oomycete problems can contribute to declining root health. Biological microorganisms such as Trichoderma spp. can be incorporated into an integrated kiwi root-health and soil-borne disease-management program.

Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma asperellum are beneficial fungi widely used in agriculture and horticulture for biological soil and root-zone management.

After suitable application, Trichoderma can establish around the rhizosphere and compete with certain soil-associated microorganisms for nutrients and colonization sites. Selected strains can also produce biologically active metabolites and enzymes and participate in mycoparasitic interactions with susceptible fungi.

These characteristics make Trichoderma useful as a biological biofungicide and beneficial root-zone microorganism within integrated kiwi orchard management.

For established kiwi vines, Trichoderma applications are generally most relevant within the active feeder-root zone. Suitable powder formulations may be incorporated with well-decomposed farmyard manure or compost and applied to the root zone according to product-label recommendations.

Compatible liquid Trichoderma formulations may be suitable for root-zone drenching or irrigation-based application where permitted by the product label.

For new kiwi plantations, Trichoderma may also be incorporated into root-zone establishment programs. However, microbial products should complement rather than replace good planting and orchard-management practices.

Drainage management is especially important in kiwi. Trichoderma cannot compensate for continuously saturated soil or severe root-zone oxygen deficiency. Where root problems are associated with waterlogging, correcting drainage and irrigation practices is essential.

Trichoderma may also be incorporated into broader microbial programs involving Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis, while NPK microbial consortium, PSB, KMB and other biofertilizers can support separate nutrient and soil-fertility objectives.

Compatibility, timing and product-label instructions should be considered when multiple microbial formulations or agricultural chemicals are used within the same orchard program.

An integrated kiwi root-health program should combine good drainage, appropriate irrigation, healthy planting material, orchard sanitation, balanced nutrition, organic matter management and suitable biological inputs.

Peak Laboratories manufactures and supplies Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and other microbial formulations for agricultural and horticultural applications in suitable liquid and powder forms.

Products are available for kiwi growers, commercial kiwi orchards, horticulture dealers, distributors, farmer groups and bulk buyers throughout Himachal Pradesh and India.
