Streptomyces Lydicus Dosage for Pomegranate
ಹಂಚಿ
Applying Streptomyces Lydicus at the correct dosage is essential for establishing a healthy microbial population in the root zone of pomegranate trees. Like most beneficial microorganisms, Streptomyces Lydicus performs best when sufficient living cells are introduced into the rhizosphere and provided with favorable soil conditions. Proper dosage, application timing, and irrigation practices help maximize root colonization and long-term biological activity.
Unlike chemical fungicides, which work through direct contact with pathogens, Streptomyces Lydicus functions by colonizing the rhizosphere. After application, the beneficial bacterium multiplies around feeder roots, where it competes with several soil-borne fungal pathogens for nutrients and space while producing naturally occurring antimicrobial metabolites. Because the microorganism is living, maintaining adequate soil moisture and avoiding harsh chemical incompatibilities immediately after application helps improve establishment.
The actual dosage depends on several factors, including the concentration of viable spores or colony-forming units (CFU), formulation type (wettable powder, granules, liquid, or suspension concentrate), tree age, orchard spacing, soil organic matter, irrigation method, and manufacturer recommendations. Therefore, growers should always follow the label instructions of the specific product they are using.
For commercial pomegranate orchards, Streptomyces Lydicus is commonly applied through soil drenching or drip irrigation, ensuring that the product reaches the active feeder root zone. Applications are generally most effective during periods of active root growth, such as after planting, after pruning, before flowering, after fruit set, and at the onset of the monsoon season. Repeating applications every 30–45 days helps maintain beneficial microbial populations throughout the growing season.
To achieve optimum performance, Streptomyces Lydicus should be integrated with good agricultural practices, including balanced fertilization, regular compost or farmyard manure (FYM) application, proper irrigation scheduling, mulching, and soil health management. Many growers also combine it with Azotobacter, PSB, KMB, Bacillus spp., and AMF to establish a robust soil microbial ecosystem.
When preparing spray or drench solutions, use clean, chlorine-free water whenever possible, avoid prolonged exposure of the mixed solution to direct sunlight, and apply the product soon after mixing. Avoid tank mixing with incompatible bactericides or fungicides unless compatibility has been confirmed by the manufacturer.
Using a premium-quality Streptomyces Lydicus product at the recommended dosage helps establish a healthy rhizosphere, improve nutrient-use efficiency, support strong root development, and contribute to sustainable pomegranate production.
