Streptomyces Lydicus Dosage for Mango

Streptomyces Lydicus Dosage for Mango

Applying the correct dosage of Streptomyces lydicus is essential for establishing a healthy population of beneficial microorganisms in the mango rhizosphere. Using too little product may not provide sufficient root colonization, while unnecessary overapplication increases production costs without providing proportional benefits. The ideal dosage depends on several factors, including the product formulation, colony-forming unit (CFU) concentration, orchard age, soil conditions, irrigation method, and manufacturer recommendations.

Most commercial Streptomyces lydicus products are formulated as wettable powders, water-dispersible granules, or soluble powders intended for soil application. These biological products perform best when delivered directly to the active feeder root zone through soil drenching, drip irrigation, or fertigation. Because microbial concentrations vary significantly among manufacturers, growers should always calculate the required quantity according to the product label rather than relying on a single universal dosage.

For newly planted mango saplings, applications are typically directed around the planting basin to encourage early rhizosphere colonization and healthy root establishment. In established orchards, the product is generally applied within the active root zone beneath the tree canopy, where feeder roots are most abundant. Uniform distribution through irrigation water or soil drenching improves contact between beneficial microorganisms and developing roots.

Streptomyces lydicus performs best in moist, well-aerated soils containing adequate organic matter. Applications should preferably be made during cooler parts of the day using clean, low-chlorine water whenever possible. Avoid mixing the product directly with incompatible chemical fungicides, strong oxidizing agents, or highly alkaline solutions unless compatibility has been confirmed by the manufacturer. Maintaining soil moisture after application encourages microbial establishment and long-term rhizosphere activity.

For optimum orchard performance, Streptomyces lydicus should be integrated with Trichoderma, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus velezensis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Azotobacter, phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB), potassium mobilizing bacteria (KMB), zinc-solubilizing bacteria, mycorrhizal fungi, compost, vermicompost, and balanced fertilization programs. When used according to label recommendations as part of an integrated biological management program, Streptomyces lydicus supports healthier roots, improved nutrient uptake, greater fertilizer efficiency, enhanced soil biology, and sustainable mango production.
