Buy Trichoderma for Rubber – Control Root Rot and Collar Rot in Plantations
ಹಂಚಿ
Rubber is a major plantation crop in Malappuram, especially around Nilambur. But root rot diseases are a serious threat to plantation health and productivity. White root rot (Rigidoporus microporus) and brown root rot (Phellinus noxius) cause slow decline, reduced latex yield, and eventual tree death. Collar rot affects young trees and seedlings in nurseries. Chemical fungicides are expensive and have limited effectiveness once the fungus is established.
Trichoderma is your organic ally for rubber disease management.
What the research says: Research has demonstrated that Trichoderma isolates significantly inhibit the mycelial growth of Rigidoporus microporus and Phellinus noxius in laboratory and field conditions. Trichoderma colonises the root zone, produces cell‑wall‑degrading enzymes, and directly parasitises these pathogens.
How to apply Trichoderma on rubber:
For mature rubber trees (in tapping):
-
Take 200‑250g of Bactostore’s Trichoderma powder per tree
-
Mix with 20‑25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM or compost
-
Apply in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the tree, 30‑40 cm from the trunk
-
Cover lightly with soil
-
Apply twice a year – pre‑monsoon (April‑May) and post‑monsoon (September‑October)
For young rubber trees (1‑5 years):
-
Use half the dose – 100‑125g powder with 10‑15 kg FYM per tree
For rubber nurseries (to prevent collar rot):
-
Mix 5g of Trichoderma powder (or 5 ml liquid) in 1 litre of water
-
Drench the nursery soil before planting budded stumps
-
For root dip before planting: mix 10g powder in 1 litre of water and dip roots for 10 minutes
For trees showing early signs of root rot:
-
Make a concentrated slurry of 100g Trichoderma powder in 1 litre of water
-
Pour around the root zone after removing loose soil from the base
-
Reapply after 15 days
