Buy Pseudomonas fluorescens for Coconut – Control Ganoderma Root Rot and Stem Bleeding
ಹಂಚಿ
Your coconut palms are the pride of Kozhikode. But Ganoderma root rot and stem bleeding are silent killers. Root rot causes dry decay of roots, yellowing of fronds, and eventual palm death. Stem bleeding, caused by Thielaviopsis paradoxa, results in dark liquid oozing from trunk cracks, leading to wood decay and collapse. Once these diseases take hold, chemical treatments are largely ineffective.
Pseudomonas fluorescens is the proven, organic solution.
What the research says: Research has shown that Pseudomonas fluorescens significantly inhibits the mycelial growth of both Ganoderma lucidum (root rot pathogen) and Thielaviopsis paradoxa (stem bleeding pathogen), with percent inhibition ranging from 68.32% to 69.38%. The KAU‑developed strain Pseudomonas fluorescens PN026 is commercially distributed for integrated disease management in coconut.
How to apply Pseudomonas on coconut:
For adult palms (preventive and curative for root rot and stem bleeding):
-
Take 200‑250g of Bactostore’s Pseudomonas powder (or 200‑250 ml liquid)
-
Mix with 20‑25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM or cow dung
-
Apply in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the palm, 15‑20 cm from the trunk
-
Cover lightly with soil
-
Apply twice a year – pre‑monsoon (April‑May) and post‑monsoon (September‑October)
For active stem bleeding (emergency treatment):
-
Scrape the bleeding area to remove loose material
-
Make a paste of 100g Pseudomonas powder in 500 ml water
-
Apply the paste on the wound and cover with mud
-
Repeat after 15 days
For new plantings:
-
Mix 100g of powder (or 100 ml liquid) per pit with 10‑15 kg FYM before planting the seedling
Why this works: P. fluorescens colonises the root zone, produces antibiotics and mycolytic enzymes, and directly inhibits the pathogens, while also triggering the palm’s own defence responses.
