Buy Beauveria Bassiana Bio-Insecticide for Vegetables, Groundnut and Maize – Endophytic Protection Against Fruit Borers and Stem Borers

Fruit borers, pod borers, and stem borers are among the most destructive pests in Palakkad’s vegetable, groundnut, and maize crops. Once the larva enters the fruit, pod, or stem, chemical sprays are useless. Beauveria bassiana offers a revolutionary solution – endophytic colonisation that kills pests from the inside when they feed.

How endophytic Beauveria works in these crops: When applied as a seed treatment, the fungus enters the seedling and grows systemically throughout the plant – into stems, leaves, flowers, and even fruits and pods. When a borer larva tunnels into the fruit or stem, it ingests Beauveria spores. The fungus germinates inside the larva and kills it within days.

Application methods:

For vegetables (tomato, brinjal, chilli, okra, beans, cabbage):

  • Seed treatment: Mix 5‑10g Beauveria powder per kg of seeds with water, coat evenly, shade dry, then sow.

  • Seedling dip: Mix 10g powder per litre of water, dip roots of seedlings for 10 minutes before transplanting.

  • Soil drench at flowering: Mix 1‑2 litres of Beauveria liquid per acre in 200 litres water and drench around the root zone to boost endophytic colonisation.

For groundnut:

  • Seed treatment: 100g Beauveria powder per 10 kg seeds

  • Soil application at pod formation: Mix 2 kg Beauveria powder with 200 kg FYM and apply around the base of plants to protect pods from pod borers.

For maize:

  • Seed treatment: 100g Beauveria powder per 10 kg seeds

  • Whorl injection: Mix 10g powder per litre water and inject 5 ml into the whorl of each plant at 30 days to protect against stem borers.
