PSB for Coconut – Stronger Roots, Bigger Nuts, Higher Copra Yield

PSB directly targets the phosphorus lock‑up that plagues coconut cultivation. In Alappuzha, the combination of acidic, laterite soils and waterlogged conditions in places like Kuttanad chemically binds phosphorus. By unlocking this essential nutrient, PSB ensures it gets to the roots, building their strength and improving their ability to fight off diseases like the dreaded root (wilt).

How to apply PSB on coconut:

For soil application (to build strong roots and fight disease):

  • For powder: Take 200-250g of Bactostore's PSB powder per adult palm. Mix with 20-25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM.

  • For liquid: Take 200-250 ml of Bactostore's PSB liquid and mix with 20-25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM.

  • Apply the mixture in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the palm, 15‑20 cm from the trunk.

  • Apply pre‑monsoon (April‑May) and again post‑monsoon (September‑October).

For new plantings:

  • Mix 100g of PSB powder (or 100 ml liquid) per pit with 10-15 kg of well‑decomposed FYM before planting the seedling.

Important tips for Alappuzha coconut farmers:

  • The key to preventing root (wilt) is a healthy root system – and phosphorus is the key to root health.

  • Do not mix PSB with chemical fungicides or copper‑based products – they will kill the beneficial bacteria.

  • Always apply in the evening or on a cloudy day to avoid UV rays.

Buy from Bactostore. We deliver fresh PSB – liquid or powder – to all Alappuzha coconut gardens.
