Buy Beauveria Bassiana for Rubber – Control Coffee Berry Borer (If Intercropped) and Nursery Pests

Rubber is a major plantation crop in Malappuram, especially in Nilambur. Many farmers intercrop coffee in young rubber plantations for additional income. But coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei) – a tiny beetle that bores into coffee berries – can destroy up to 50‑70% of the crop. Chemical control is difficult because the borer lives inside the berry. Beauveria bassiana is the most effective biological control agent for coffee berry borer. Research shows that Beauveria isolates cause 70‑90% mortality of adult borers and also infect larvae inside berries.

How to apply Beauveria on rubber and intercropped coffee:

For coffee berry borer (in intercropped coffee):

  • Mix 2‑5 ml of Beauveria liquid (or 5‑10g powder) in 1 litre of water

  • Spray on coffee bushes, covering berries, leaves, and branches

  • Start spraying at berry formation stage and repeat every 15‑20 days until harvest

  • For best results, combine with trapping and sanitation (remove infested berries)

For rubber nurseries (to protect young plants):

  • Mix 5g of Beauveria powder (or 5 ml liquid) in 1 litre of water

  • Drench the nursery soil before planting budded stumps

  • For foliar spray on nursery seedlings against caterpillars: use same concentration every 15 days

For mature rubber trees (soil pests):

  • Take 200‑250g of Bactostore’s Beauveria powder per tree

  • Mix with 20‑25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM

  • Apply in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the tree, 30‑40 cm from the trunk

  • Apply twice a year – pre‑monsoon and post‑monsoon

Why this works for your rubber plantation: Beauveria is safe for rubber trees, leaves no residues on latex, and controls multiple pests in an integrated manner – coffee berry borer, white grubs, termites, and nursery caterpillars.
