Buy Beauveria Bassiana Bio-Insecticide for Black Pepper and Arecanut – Control Root Mealybugs and Inflorescence Caterpillar Using Endophytic Colonisation

Root mealybugs are a serious pest of black pepper – they feed on roots under the soil, causing yellowing and yield loss. Inflorescence caterpillar of arecanut feeds inside the spadix, protected from sprays. Both pests hide in places where chemical pesticides cannot reach effectively.

Beauveria bassiana bio-insecticide provides endophytic protection – the fungus grows inside the plant and kills pests when they feed.

For black pepper (root mealybugs):

Soil application for endophytic root colonisation:

  • Take 200‑250g of Bactostore’s Beauveria powder per vine

  • Mix with 20‑25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM

  • Apply in the basin around the vine and cover with soil

  • Apply twice a year – pre‑monsoon and post‑monsoon

  • The fungus colonises the root system. When mealybugs feed on roots, they ingest Beauveria and die.

For arecanut (inflorescence caterpillar):

Spadix injection for endophytic protection:

  • Mix 20g of Beauveria powder in 1 litre of water

  • Using a syringe, inject 10‑15 ml into the spadix stalk (the stem that holds the developing nuts)

  • Apply at the start of flowering and repeat after 15 days

  • The fungus moves into the spadix and kills caterpillars when they feed on the flowers or developing nuts.
