Improving Root Vigor After Transplanting

Transplanting is a critical stage in banana cultivation, especially for tissue culture plants that require rapid root establishment for successful field growth. During this period, plants experience transplant stress, making them more vulnerable to soil-borne diseases and poor nutrient uptake. Streptomyces lydicus helps improve root vigor by establishing a beneficial microbial population around newly developing roots.

Following application, Streptomyces lydicus colonizes the rhizosphere and creates a protective biological environment. It competes with harmful pathogens for nutrients and space while producing naturally occurring antimicrobial metabolites and enzymes that suppress disease-causing fungi. These activities promote healthier feeder root development, improve nutrient absorption, and reduce transplant stress.

Applying Streptomyces lydicus during planting or immediately after transplanting, together with compost, biofertilizers, and proper irrigation management, supports faster root establishment and stronger vegetative growth. Healthy root systems improve plant survival, encourage uniform crop establishment, and contribute to higher bunch weight and improved fruit quality at harvest.
