Buy Verticillium Lecanii for Coconut – Control Rugose Spiraling Whitefly and Mealybugs
शेयर करना
Have you noticed white, waxy insects flying up from your coconut fronds when you shake them? That’s the Rugose Spiraling Whitefly (RSW) – an invasive pest that has spread across Kerala. It sucks sap from under the leaves, causing yellowing, sooty mould, and reduced nut yield. Mealybugs and scale insects add to the damage. Chemical sprays often fail because whiteflies hide under leaves and develop resistance. Verticillium lecanii is the natural answer.
How to apply Verticillium on coconut:
Soil application (long‑term prevention):
-
Take 200‑250g of Bactostore’s Verticillium powder per adult palm
-
Mix with 20‑25 kg of well‑decomposed FYM or cow dung
-
Apply in a 1.5‑2 metre basin around the palm, 15‑20 cm from the trunk
-
Cover lightly with soil
-
Apply twice a year – pre‑monsoon (April‑May) and post‑monsoon (September‑October)
Foliar spray (active infestation):
-
For liquid: Mix 2‑5 ml in 1 litre of water
-
For powder: Mix 5‑10g in 1 litre of water, add 2 kg jaggery per acre, let sit overnight
-
Spray on both sides of fronds, especially the underside
-
Repeat every 10‑15 days during active infestation
For severe mealybug infestation at the base:
-
Mix 50g of Verticillium powder with 5 kg FYM
-
Apply in the basin around the trunk
