Beauveria bassiana is a naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus used as a broad-spectrum bio-insecticide. It infects insects via spore adhesion to the cuticle, germinating and penetrating the exoskeleton, ultimately causing mycosis. Formulated at 2 × 10⁸ CFU/ml on a talc carrier, it targets soft-bodied pests while safeguarding beneficial species.

Product Specifications

  • CFU: 2 × 10⁸ CFU/ml

  • Active Content: Fungal spores and mycelium of Beauveria bassiana

  • Carrier: Dextrose powder (ensures stability and foliar adhesion)

Usage Instructions

  1. Dosage: 2 litre per acre in 200 L water for thorough coverage.

  2. Timing: Apply at dawn/dusk or on cloudy days to avoid UV degradation.

  3. Target Pests:

    • Sucking insects: Bemisia tabaci (whitefly), Aphis gossypii (cotton aphid), Myzus persicae (green peach aphid)

    • Boring/chewing pests: Helicoverpa armigera (cotton bollworm), Spodoptera litura (tobacco armyworm), Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Colorado potato beetle)

    • Others: Thrips (Thrips palmi, Frankliniella occidentalis), mites (Tetranychus urticae), coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei)

  4. Method: Spray foliage, stems, and soil; ensure direct contact with pests.

  5. Frequency: Reapply every 7–14 days during high infestation; avoid heavy rain for 48 hours post-application.

  6. Compatibility: Do not mix with chemical fungicides; compatible with neem oil and insecticidal soaps.

  7. Activation: Requires >80% humidity for 8–10 hours to initiate spore germination.

  8. Safety: Non-toxic to plants, earthworms, and pollinators (Apis mellifera).

Key Advantage

Cuticle-Degrading Action:
Secretes enzymes (chitinases, proteases) that dissolve insect exoskeletons, effectively controlling pesticide-resistant pests like Bemisia tabaci MEAM1 (Middle East-Asia Minor 1 species) and Tetranychus urticae (two-spotted spider mite) without disrupting natural enemies.
